Name: Samantha Redbone
Nickname: Sam, Sammie
Race: Human, Native American
Age: 21
Hair: Black
Eyes: Used to be brown, now green
Skin tone: Copper
Build: Short, slightly muscular
Physical Description: Sammie is short, about five-foot-two. She works out, and is toned, but her body is built too thick to be classified under the modern terms of "gorgeous." She's still lovely, though, even if she doesn't think so, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, deep black hair, and full lips. She's very Native American, except for her eyes.
Special Features: Cat-like green eyes
Usual Clothes: Jeans or skirts and long-sleeved shirts, or long sleeved dresses. She's always seen in long sleeves, though
Jewelry: Five gold hoops in her left ear, four in her right. A tear-drop shaped tiger's eye on a gold chain around her neck. A black watch covered in flames.
Personality: Sammie is hyper-active, and very much a nerd. She loves science, computers, video games, etc. She's out-going, and very slow to anger. Once she is angry, though, it gets quite ugly. Usually, she's happy-go-lucky and makes friends easily. She's slow to trust people, though once she does, she does so completely. She's willing to do anything for the few people who do have her trust, and her loyalty to them borders on the stupid side.
First Impression of Character: Bouncy, hyper, and touchy-feely
Later Impression of Character: She's a lot less open and insane than she seems.
Habits/Quirks: Sammie tended to use gestures more than words for communication even before the orb incident. Now, with her connection to animals, she's /incredibly/ touchy-feely.
Likes: Pineapple pizza, horror movies, reading, computers, horse-back riding, archery, martial arts
Dislikes: Romance novels, meat, vanilla ice cream, people who are hypocritical
Strengths: Sammie has a connection with animals, giving her the ability to talk to them. She also takes on some of their characteristics, aiding fluidity to her martial arts techniques. She's also a good archer, she's great with computers, and she's a pretty good writer. She also has a wonderful singing voice.
Weaknesses: She's very claustrophobic, she has a soft spot for animals. Her loyalty to her friends makes her do stupid things sometimes, since she's inclined to believe anything the people who she trusts say. Also, she's vulnerable when communicating with animals, since it takes concentration. Plus, animals have a tendency to push themselves on her at inopportune times.
Special Abilities: Communicating telepathically with animals.
Family: Father and older brother in Fresno, California.
History: Samantha Redbone is one-hundred percent Native American, born and raised in Fresno, California. When she was first born, and for the first few years of her life, she and her older brother Trent fought constantly. He viewed her as a threat to his position with her parents, and she didn't want to play with anyone who was mean. Secretly, though, she hero-worshipped him. When Trent discovered this, his whole attitude changed. From then on, Sam and her brother were incredibly close, despite their age difference of three years.
Sam got along well with her parents, who gave her and her brother all the love and attention children could need. When Sam was 14, however, her mother was diagnosed with cancer. About a year later, the cancer proved fatal and Sam's mother passed away. Sam went into a depression and began cutting herself, even though she remained outwardly the same happy person. Late in her sixteenth year, though, Trent found out what she was doing and made her seek help. Sam returned more or less to normal, although she did begin to spend a lot more time on the computer. Samantha began to associate with very few real-life friends,
although she remained out-going, and mostly hung out with the ones she met on-line, through chat rooms and forums involving a prophecy about a vampire with a soul. Samantha never believed any of this was true, but she was addicted to make-believe and enjoyed doing it.
Sam's best friend growing up was Sera, and there wasn't much the two girls didn't share. Sera helped Sam through her mother's cancer and death, and when Sera's mother died some time later, Sam returned the favor. Sera is one of the few people that know about Sam's cutting.
After graduating high school, both girls were accepted into UCLA.
When just beginning her junior year, Sam met and made friends with Connor, who was a freshman. The two bonded quickly, and Sam became quite attached to him, viewing him as a brother.
A little later that same year, Sam met Zari in her kickboxing class and, after many conversations, discovered that Zari frequented Angel forums as well. Another person was added to Sam's little "family."
At the beginning of her senior year she discovered that a long-time on-line friend, Jon, attended UCLA as well and was actually in her Psychology class. Delighted, Sam mentioned that she and a few other friends who were also on-line goers had gotten together to get a house off campus and invited him to join them.
Sam now has her whole surrogate family living with her: Sera, who's as close as a twin sister; Zari, who Sam views as a slightly younger sister; Connor, who's like a brother; and Jon, a late arrival but who Sammie still cares for.
